About Vic Bennett Saddles
We are an experienced group of horsemen and women who are dedicated to building properly built quality saddles and equipment. I started working on saddles and chaps during my high school and university years before joining Clover Bar Saddlery as a full partner in 1966. Since then I've:
  • Watched the saddlery and horse business change and become much more specialized.

  • Worked with and learned from prominent trainers and showmen throughout the last 30 years.

  • Built specialty custom saddles for individuals plus premiere trophy saddles for the largest/best shows and futurities in Western Canada

At Vic Bennett Saddles we make our living building and supplying superior tack. We don't sell clothes, hats, boots or bolo ties. We build saddles, breast collars, bridles, training equipment and supply hard to find handmade blankets, bits and equipment. We are fussy about our workmanship. Our aim is to hand make gear with refinement while still retaining substance and form. Our stitches are close together and pulled tightly into the leather to prevent wearing, everything is hand edged and rubbed and finished individually to create a unique piece. We offer hard to find details and performance features that are not often found on factory gear.

  • Authentic hand made quality.

  • Winning performance features.

  • Superior fit for you and your horse.
  • Protection of your investment over time.

  • Satisfaction and usefulness of quality tack.

In most cases the people that contact us have been exposed to our work either by reputation, having seen or tried our saddles/tack that a friend or associate may have bought from us or has been referred to us by a trainer. We are used to supplying saddles and tack to people over the phone, customers that we will probably never meet. Our saddles on order at anytime will include customers from B.C., Alberta, Montana, Washington and Europe. We accomplish this by having detailed discussions with our customers discovering their personal needs in a saddle. Once we agree on the overall design and details of the saddle we can give a pretty firm deadline for constructing the saddle. We require a $500 (Cdn) deposit upon ordering and the balance upon completion before shipping.

You see, by creating and designing high quality performance saddles for many years we have been able to design a group of saddles that incorporate all the current performance features at a reasonable price in a fairly short period of time.

Saddles are constantly changing - not always in an obvious way but changing nevertheless. It may be a change in the tree within the saddle such as narrowing up the side cut of the tree bars to put the rider's leg on the horse sooner or closer. The change may be cosmetic as in the popularity of the old time border patterns coupled with flower corners to give a fresh traditional look. It may be functional such as higher fronts on cutting horse saddles to straighten the arm - shorter seats on reining saddles to prevent tipping and to promote the up hill feeling of the sear, or our new option flex rigging in our All Around Saddles making them more versatile over varying terrain and conditions.

Because we work daily with trainers and showmen on these performance features we constantly update our saddles to reflect and include these desirable features.
